The Test Kitchen
Oh my God this is good! Best foodie place abroad is my bet guess. If the Michelin guide ever went to Cape Town, this restaurant would for sure get some stars. It is high class gourmet. At the same time, they have made the décor very unpretentious, sort of raw warehouse look. There are not so many tables, but if you're lucky you can get a seat a the bar between the restaurant and the kitchen. It's a very open kitchen. I was chocked to see the efficiency and cooperation throughout the entire staff in the kitchen. Everybody knew their place and timing. It really showed on the plates. The food was amazing and experimental in the cool and good way. Everything tasted nothing less but fantastic. The restaurant is located in the old Biscuit Mill area, which looks so charming. You get the atmosphere under your skin, even before you walk inside the restaurant. Do keep in mind, that if you'll have any chance to experience this place, you need to book ahead from the day, they open up for new reservations. I think it's 6 months ahead. It takes some planning, and it's high prices compared to anything else at these latitudes. But do make yourself the greatest favour and save some money for this experience. You won't regret it. It's worth every penny. Also remember to be there before your reservation starts, or you'll miss your seats. Amazing. I will be back.
