Restaurationen
This restaurant caught me by surprise. I knew that the chef was very much into the Danish kitchen, and I had a feeling that it would be very old fashioned. To an extend it was not entirely wrong. But my prejudice of Danish food being a little boring, I have to bury. They only serve dishes with seasonal ingredients, and only ala carte unless you're a late diner. Hence everything was extremely fresh and tasted fantastic. They have lots of seafood on the menu. I love well-made fresh fish, and I ordered dishes with fish only. I was blown away. It was that good. We visited this place when it was season for strawberries. Hence all of the desserts was based on strawberries. Who don't like strawberries? They also have a solid variety of cheeses. We were convinced by the owner to try a really old French cheese. It was crazy! The wine that was paired with the rest of the cheeses did not work well at all with this last crazy cheese. Hence the owner gave us, for free, an equally crazy glass of Chianti Classico to be able to eat the crazy cheese. The owner spends a lot of time talking to the guests. I think he appreciates to have an influence on the wine choices. He is very conceited about the food and wines, so I guess he wants to make sure, that everybody leaves with a good feeling. Across the street lies the wine bar, R-Vinbar. It's also owned by the chef Bo Jacobsen. Both the places are cosy and very professional. They are located in the centre of Copenhagen, in a walking distance to Kongens Nytorv. Prices are a little high, but very fair considering the high quality ,great service and taste.
