Kødbyens Fiskebar
This restaurant mainly serves dishes with fish, and the name Kødbyens Fiskebar can be translated into The Fish bar of the Meatpacking district, which makes good sense. The taste and presentation of the food is really great. Almost gourmet dishes. Fresh fish and vegetables. It is possible to order something else but fish though. The wine card is outstanding. They’ve got wines from many districts and flavors, and prices should meet most needs. I love the raw settings. The restaurant lies where the old main entrance to the slaughter houses used to be. Now there is an entire area of restaurants and shops around the old slaughter houses called the meatpacking district. It is quite hip and raw, but at the same time very relaxed and unpretentious. I would give the restaurant pretty much same description. They have retained much from the old slaughter houses - the old tiles on the walls, concrete floors and ceilings, meat hooks which guests today hang their coats on, and the old sign from the entrance into the slaughter houses. The atmosphere is amazing. The place is always fully booked, so you need to book ahead. The waiters are kind but super busy. In the bar in the middle of the restaurant, you can sit and enjoy your dinner as well. These tables can’t be booked. They are for people just stopping by. You can sit here and get a glass of wine or a cocktail too. But I would go elsewhere for the cocktails. The cocktail bar 1656 is just around the corner, and it is much better for this purpose. Parking is possible for 4 hours for free just outside the door. Prices are a little high, but I wouldn’t call it expensive. It’s worth the money. Great place. Great food.
