Søpromenaden
We often visit this restaurant for lunch. They serve traditional Danish food. For lunch the menu is cold cuts on dark bread like any grandmother would have made it. It is the same sort of food for dinner, only warm. The service is not particularly friendly. How come do they get this score? Well, the food is always good and there is plenty of it. The location is fantastic. On a warm day you can sit outside and look at the lakes and all the people walking by. That is Copenhagen when it’s best. The prices are very fair. Usually 1 piece of bread per person is enough. The portions are sometimes huge. It varies a little. Even though the waiters are not exactly polite (to put it mildly), they actually have a great humor….it’s just very sarcastic. Danish humor I suppose. It can come across a little hostile, but it’s nothing personal. The waiters are old men with an attitude. Some other guests ordered water for the table, one of the times we were in here. Naturally it was about 30 degrees and the sun was shining intensively. The waiter looked skeptically at the guest and then at the dog they have brought with them. “I hope it’s for the dog!” the waiter said. The guests hardly dared to say, it was for themselves. We had a few minutes earlier ordered a coke, were the waiter had to check. He didn’t really know if they had any. This is just how it is. They usually serve snaps and beer in very large scale. Anything else is for pussies. But I like the place and the fact it’s crooked and unpolished.
