Lidkoeb
The
people behind Ruby opened Liedkoeb a couple of years ago at
Vesterbro. It’s located in an old city building in a backyard of Vesterbrogade,
where it’s well hidden for those who don’t know it’s there. It’s a very busy
place. At first they didn’t let more people in, than there were seating for.
Now it’s a quite crowded place. Even though they let many people into this two
story cocktail bar, there is always a pretty long crowd, where you must wait
your turn no matter who you are, or how often you come here. The cocktails are
based on the old original recipes from the 20s along with new cocktails
invented by the skilled bartenders. They do all cocktails you can think of –
also original cocktails not mentioned on the cocktail menu. The atmosphere is
way more hipster and young than the sister bar, Ruby. You must
order a new drink at the same time your drink are being served, as it takes
about a half an hour on a normal busy night to get a cocktail. Because of the
large crowd you must mostly yell to each other, unless you get a seat away from
the bar or the entry. In the summertime you can sit in the cozy court yard,
with multi colored light chains. The bartenders are dressed in leather aprons
to emphasize the “theme” of the bar, which is a combination of a local cattle
market from the 20s and an old butcher store. Actually the name of the bar is
an old Danish word for two people shaking hands after closing a deal at a
market, and then having a drink.
