The Tasting Room
I have never been to a place like this before. I have been to many gourmet restaurants, but not like this one. It's experimental food with local ingredients served in a very untraditional way. Every dish was a wow moment. They just kept surprising us from we sat down until the last dish was served. We got all from amazing dishes, that was so delicious, you almost felt like licking the plate, to dishes with ingredients you could not even pronounce, nor like. But it was so much fun to try all this strange food. If it's your first trip to South Africa, this is a must try. Keep an open mind. The décor does not reflect the gourmet food, but the highly educated and kind waiters are great. I think I would only visit this place once, since the wow experience was because of all the unknown ingredients. But on the other side. I could really do this again. It was that fantastic. Prices are high for SA, but not for us in Scandinavia. Half price of a Danish gourmet restaurant. The restaurant is hard to find, unless you get a local driver to show you the way. It's located in a hotel called Le Quartier Français. You need to book a table ahead from the day, they open up for reservations. They prioritize the hotel guests. But it's a large restaurant, so it's not impossible, if you're fast.
